Hamilton Accies have landed midfielder Ewan Simpson on a season-long loan from Aston Villa.

The 19-year-old Scotsman moved to Birmingham from Hearts when he was 16, has made 28 Under-18 Premier League appearances, and represented Scotland at under-17 level.

Delighted Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin told the club’s website: “Ewan adds more depth to our midfield and offers some versatility in that area, whether it’s sitting deeper of pushing further up the pitch.

“He was one of the stand-outs for Hearts 18s before he made the move to Aston Villa, and needs an opportunity to show what he can do at this level.”

Ewan Simpson said: “I had a good chat with the manager about how he wants his team to play, and how I play my part in that.

“I’ve been in training the last few days and the tempo is high and the boys set high standards, so I’m looking forward to being involved this season.”
