Manchester United could be a line for a small transfer windfall as Andreas Pereira reportedly gets set to leave Fulham in the final week of the transfer window.
The Brazil international has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal at Craven Cottage and is being linked with a return to his homeland before the window shuts on September 1.
The Times claims that although Fulham haven't accepted any bids for the midfielder, there is an "expectation" he will leave the club within the next ten days. Brazilian side Palmeiras are reportedly interested in Pereira.
Indeed, should the 29-year-old depart Craven Cottage for a fee in the next ten days, then United could be entitled to a portion of the transfer fee that Fulham will receive.
That's because United negotiated a sell-on clause when they agreed to sell the midfielder to Fulham in 2021 for a deal worth up to £10m.
The Brazilian spent 11 years at United and, despite only making 45 Premier League appearances for the club, the clause negotiated by United's transfer chiefs means they would be entitled to 20% of any profit Fulham make on the midfielder.
Of course, whether Fulham would be able to demand in excess of £10m for a 29-year-old with less than 12 months remaining on his deal remains to be seen.
Asked about Fulham's dealings in the transfer market last week, manager Marko Silva said the club had been too "passive".
"It's not an ideal scenario," said Silva. I didn't expect us to be this passive. I knew what I wanted and the plan was there but it hasn't happened. Right now we need to reinforce. In some positions we are very short.
"Did I expect it? Of course not, but the market is the market."
