The Pittsburgh Steelers have released cornerback Kam Alexander as part of their 11 cuts on Friday. Pittsburgh signed Alexander earlier this week with some injuries mounting at cornerback.
He played in the team’s final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, but struggled in that game. The Steelers could still bring him back on the practice squad if they wished.
Alexander was released by the Seattle Seahawks last week before the Steelers cut him this week, and he will hope to land on a practice squad as a rookie.
He played six snaps in the Seahawks’ first preseason game, allowing a huge 41-yard reception before getting the axe from the Seahawks.
Alexander was an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in the 2025 NFL Draft and only signed with the Seahawks in July. He was in the rookie minicamps with multiple teams, but did earn a contract initially.
Alexander started his college football career at UTSA before transferring up to Oregon. He played in 12 games, making one interception and four passes defensed while with the Ducks.
At UTSA, he had 15 passes defensed and two interceptions, earning himself first-team All-AAC honors while with the Roadrunners.
Coming out of Oregon, Alexander ran a 4.48 40-yard dash and stands at 5-foot-11, 183 pounds. In addition, Alexander showcased some impressive explosiveness with a 41.5-inch vertical jump and 11-foot-1-inch broad jump to go with it.
