Tottenham manager Thomas Frank joins elite group after Manchester City win

Thomas Frank has had a dream start to his tenure as Tottenham Hotspur manager.

The Dane crossed the capital to take charge at Tottenham this season, replacing Ange Postecoglou at the helm. Frank’s fine work at Brentford impressed the Spurs board, who will have been delighted by his early impact.

Spurs are the early leaders at the top of the Premier League table, after consecutive wins and clean sheets.

The North Londoners followed a professional 3-0 win over Burnley on the opening weekend with an impressive 2-0 win at Manchester City on Saturday.

Goals from Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha earned the points for Spurs, who upset Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad.

It’s a second career win for Frank at the Etihad, with the 51-year-old joining an exclusive group of managers in the process.

He’s become just the third coach to win an away league fixture against a Pep Guardiola side with two different clubs, having also achieved the feat with Brentford in 2022.

The only other managers to do so are Jose Mourinho (Real Madrid and Manchester United) and Antonio Conte (Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur).
