Fabrizio Romano: Exit 'advancing' for 'explosive' Man Utd star after positive talks

Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund has held positive talks over a move to join Napoli, with talks advancing, says GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds have spent the summer bolstering the forward options with Ruben Amorim adding all of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to his options in deals worth in excess of £200m combined.

That has seen the manager make the decision to part ways with Denmark international Hojlund, leaving him out of the squad for the opening day clash with Arsenal as a message.

Hojlund, who has been described as 'explosive', moved to Old Trafford in a deal worth £64m plus add-ons to take the fee up to £72m two summers ago from Atalanta, but struggled badly in his second campaign.

Amorim has made the decision to go with other options and let Hojlund move on, and now a move to Serie A champions Napoli is advancing as the Italian outfit look to replace Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku suffered a serious injury that is likely to see him out of action until at least 2026, and Hojlund has now emerged as a prime target for Antonio Conte, with Romano revealing on his X account that 'positive talks' have been held with the player and his camp over a long-term deal.

Man Utd are aware of the talks and are ready to sanction a move for Hojlund to leave for the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, either permanently or on loan with an obligation to buy.

But Napoli may have to move quickly as it has also emerged that Bayern Munich have been offered the 22-year-old on loan this summer as they look to add new forwards to their squad. While the Bundesliga champions haven't made an offer yet, they are still looking at the situation and a decision is expected to be made in the coming days.
