Unai Emery has confirmed Boubacar Kamara suffered an injury during Aston Villa’s 1-0 defeat at Brentford.

The midfielder came off in the first half of the game, just after Dango Ouattara scored the only goal at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Kamara then sat on the floor, awaiting medical assistance, before walking off the pitch and down the tunnel.

Asked if Kamara came off injured, Emery said: "Yes, but I don't know exactly what injury he has. He got injured."

He was replaced by Emi Buendia in the 16th minute, but the Argentine didn’t last the full 90 minutes either as he was taken off with a quarter of an hour remaining.

It didn’t look like Buendia’s substitution was anything to do with an injury, however, and was instead tactical.

Villa face Crystal Palace at home on Sunday (7pm) before the September international break.
