Kevin Thelwell could try to bring Everton star Youssef Chermiti to Rangers.
The former Everton sporting director left Goodison Park to link up with the Scottish Premiership giants in April.
Thelwell was a controversial figure with the Blues, but he was hamstrung in the transfer market by the constant financial chaos under Farhad Moshiri.
He began his new role in June, and he could return to his former club to bring Chermiti to Ibrox as they look for a striker.

Thelwell has not made a move for any Everton players yet, despite swapping the Toffees for Scottish football earlier this summer.

A report from Rangers Review on 23 August claims that the Portuguese striker has emerged as an option for the Gers if they choose to sign a striker.
Thelwell knows Chermiti well from his time on Merseyside and could look to bring the Blues ace to Govan.
Youssef Chermiti needs a loan away from Everton
A loan move looks like the right move for Chermiti at the moment, as he is not going to get many senior chances.
He was signed from Sporting in 2023 as a promising option for the future, but the 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact so far.
He had been mooted to join Stoke City or Sheffield United on loan, as the likes of Beto and Thierno Barry are ahead of him in the pecking order, but nothing has materialised yet.

The move makes sense as he is still seen as a high-potential player on Merseyside, but he needs regular gametime if he is to develop properly.
A switch to the Gers for the season could be a very clever move for the Blues, as they are likely to be playing Europa League football, and the Scottish game represents the kind of physical challenge that he needs at this stage.
It remains to be seen whether the Light Blues make an approach for Chermiti, but if Thelwell does come calling, the Blues should allow him to take the young striker on a temporary deal; it would be ideal for all parties.
