Last season, there were few bigger storylines for the Philadelphia Eagles than the play of Saquon Barkley. As he gears up for his second season with his new team, one analyst expects him to deliver as equally impressive of a campaign in 2025.
After not being able to work out a deal with the New York Giants last offseason, Howie Roseman swooped in and nabbed the star running back in free agency. This quickly proved to be a smart decision, as it yielded massive dividends.
The Eagles adapted their offensive approach upon Barkley's arrival, featuring the running game far more than they have in recent years. He took full advantage of this, putting together the best year of his career. Barkley joined the exclusive group of players to rush for over 2,000 yards while also totaling a career-high 13 touchdowns.
As the Eagles prepare to defend their championship, Barkley will look to continue being a pillar of the offense.
NFL analyst makes bold prediction for Eagles star Saquon Barkley
With the start of the 2025 campaign just around the corner, FS1's Danny Parkins gave his thoughts on the Eagles' star running back during Friday's episode of The Herd. He is setting an extremely high bar for Barkley, stating that he'll put together another historic season in Philadelphia.
"I think Saquon Barkley is uniquely positioned to have the best two-year stretch for a running back ever, which currently is Eric Dickerson," Parkins said. "I think Saquon Barkley is gonna break Eric Dickerson's two-year record. I think he's got a shot at the first ever back-to-back 2,000-yard seasons, and I think the greatest two year stretch in NFL history for a running back. I think that record falls."

Back in the 1980s, Dickerson took the NFL by storm after being drafted second overall in 1983. He rushed for 1,808 yards as a rookie in 1983 and managed to follow that up by notching 2,105 yards in 1984.
To this day, Dickerson's 2,105 yards is the NFL's single-season rushing record. Barkley managed to crack the top ten last year, now sitting with the eighth-highest total ever.
Coming off such an impressive season, defenses are certainly going to zero in on Barkley more. That being said, with the Eagles being adamant about not changing their style with the offense, he very well could make a run at Dickerson's record.
