West Ham crisis | Protests planned as fans reach breaking point

Not for the first time, the diverse group of supporters who make up West Ham United’s supporters are having a tough time dealing with the performance on the pitch and the lack of activity off it: Financial – PSR- issues are cited for lack of activity or worse, having to sell players before the club can buy in the summer window when eight players left and needed replacing. So far only two have been brought in and another two ‘free’ transfers have been added to the squad.

Results are shambolic with the Irons conceding eight goals in the first two games of a new season for the first time.

“Hammers United” who represent several diverse supporters groups have issued a tweet confirming that they will be making contact with the Metropolitan Police to prepare a protest in response to calls from members. The full tweet is below.

The protest ” will show the senior leadership team at the club what their members and the wider supporter base think of the utter mess they have put our club in”.

As the Hammers United web site declares, [They] “exist to engage West Ham in meaningful discussion aimed at improving all things related to supporting this great club of ours.

We are a non-political group; our sole interest is the supporters of West Ham United. This is not a protest group. We are a supporter’s group. However, we coordinate protest where our members deem it necessary. At present, our members want us to prioritise continuing to campaign for a change of ownership”

And just for the record, I don’t think I’m a member. Before anybody asks.
