All seems well in title-bound Arsenal's world right now. They joyfully paraded Eberechi Eze just before kick-off and then set about building on last weekend's opening day win at Man United by seeing off newly-promoted Leeds.

New players Noni Madueke and Martin Zubimendi bedded in and there were the first goals for big money signing Viktor Gyokeres - a relief after a sorry first outing in Arsenal colours last week at Old Trafford. We also saw the debut of 15-year-old wonderkid Max Dowman - a moment to send home fans into understandable raptures.

That said, this comfortable win was accompanied by injuries to two players - skipper Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka - and the hope must be that they are not going to be ruled out of next week's visit to Liverpool. With Kai Havertz also out injured, it is not quite a clean slate for the new season.

It took a rather prosaic goal to get Arsenal up and running. An undistinguished opening half an hour was notable only for a glaring miss by Gyokeres, who snatched at a clear opening eight yards out after Zubimendi had nicked the ball off a dithering defender.

Jurrien Timber was the unlikely man to make the breakthrough, getting on the end of an inswinging Declan Rice corner to guide the ball low past keeper Lucas Perri.

Before the half was out the lead had been doubled with Saka thrashing home from six yards after a Zubimendi intercept and a clip behind the last man by Timber.

Leeds did come close to opening the scoring themselves during that quiet opening to the game when Pascal Struijk's header at a corner forced David Raya into a fine save against a powerful connection. But they were never in it after falling behind.

Arsenal's first cloud was a shoulder injury to Odegaard, which forced the Gunners into a change in the first half - Ethan Nwaneri the more than able replacement.

The second half was barely three minutes old before the Gunners all-but wrapped up the points when Gyokeres bagged his first competitive goal for his new team. Collecting the ball in the inside-left channel, the striker cut inside Jayden Bogle and Struijk before firing low to the keeper's right.

Saka coming off took some of the gloss off proceedings but there was the comfort of another goal for Timber after Leeds failed to deal with a Declan Rice corner - the defender poking home after a scramble.

We were treated to a couple of nice touches from Dowman in the final 20 minutes and two shots which flashed just too high and wide and the youngster won a late penalty, inducing a trip from Anton Stach. Gyokeres accepted the gift gratefully, drilling home the spot kick with no fuss.

Max does not turn 16 until December and is the second youngest club representative after Nwaneri. The youngster will have much hype to contend with but a ton of goodwill from excited Gooners fans.
