£21M rated striker ”sends reminder” to Leeds United ahead of transfer deadline

Leeds United have a much different set of players up top than they did last season. The Whites managed to score 95 goals in the Championship as they hit the 100-point mark on their way to winning the league.

But their core of central attackers has seen a massive shakeup in the summer transfer window. Last season, Joel Piroe was the main man and Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph were the backups. Bamford has been told he is not in the club’s plans this season, and Joseph has been loaned out after asking for a transfer this summer.

Leeds have brought in Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Daniel Farke has suggested that a few more additions could be made before the window closes.

Josh Sargent scores again ahead of transfer deadline

One of Leeds’ long term targets this summer was Josh Sargent. The Whites had their eye on him for most of the transfer window, but barely made a move. Wolfsburg attempted to sign the Norwich man, who turned down the move at the last minute.

His start to the Championship season has a few people wondering if Leeds should have taken the chance to sign the American. Sargent now has three goals, scoring in each of his first three league games of the season.

Could Leeds United still sign the striker?

It is very unlikely that Leeds move to sign Sargent, his price tag could be a problem. Norwich are happy to keep him, and the manager has already said that the striker is ”all in” on their campaign:

”I’ve got a really good relationship with him and because of that I can just say to him, ‘Keep your head down and worry about your football until anything changes’. He is very much ‘all in’ on what we are doing at the moment.”
