Leeds United player ratings with Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon and Joel Piroe poor in Arsenal rout

Leeds United fell to a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal in a tough match on Saturday evening, the Whites left feeling the realities of the top tier.

The Whites were always going to be on the back foot and found it difficult to get into Arsenal's final third. They nevertheless will find have been disappointed to concede Jurrien Timber's opener from a set-piece.

Lucas Perri will be annoyed at letting Bukayo Saka's effort power past his shoulder at the near post just before half-time. Two goals 11 minutes after half-time through Victor Gyokeres and Timber again killed the contest.

A late penalty from Gyokeres after a trip on Max Dowman from Anton Stach rubbed salt into the wounds. Here are how the players rated.

LUCAS PERRI

His pass led to Jayden Bogle's yellow card and will feel disappointed at being beaten for the second. Struggled to be commanding. 5

JAYDEN BOGLE

Had a tough day against Noni Madueke but did win a few battles. His run forward led to a free-kick. Early yellow card hampered how fierce he could be in the tackle. Was left frustrated many times. 6

JOE RODON

Will feel disappointed with the second goal, having had Timber sandwiched between him and Pascal Struijk. Initially waited for an offside flag for the third goal and was slow to get back. Pipped to the ball for the fourth. 4

PASCAL STRUIJK

Had a good tussle with Gyokeres early on but ultimately conceded five. Forced Raya into a save with a header in the first half. Kept his position well but kept Gyokeres onside for the third goal and couldn't recover. 5

GABRIEL GUDMUNDSSON

Lost Saka for the second goal. Couldn't get forward at all and Saka had his number. Got a yellow card for a tackle on 15-year-old debutant Max Dowman. 4

ILIA GRUEV

Had a tough job but was at fault for second goal. Had to have his wits about him at all times. Got his foot in decently but ultimately the opposition was too strong. 6

ANTON STACH

Was tackled when Leeds played out and was lucky Gyokeres scuffed it wide. Had good moments but also some shaky ones too - just like his set-piece deliveries. This was the true welcome to the Premier League, but he'll learn a lot from today. Tiredness led to tackle on Dowman for late penalty. 5

AO TANAKA

Was crowded out quite a lot, and he ended up passing backwards or sideward as a result. Hardly productive but then who was? 5

DANIEL JAMES

Had United's first two shots of the game - one led to Struijk's header - and a free-kick. Also tracked back well to defend a counter. On a personal level, his best game since the start of pre-season. 5

JOEL PIROE

Only moment of joy in the first half came when dropped deep. Was always going to be a difficult task but needed to at least move about a bit more. 3

WILFRIED GNONTO

Tried to be productive but found it difficult. Got muscled out by his markers, despite his best efforts. 4

SUBS

SAM BYRAM (on 83' for Bogle)

Came on too late for rating. N/A.

SEAN LONGSTAFF (on 58' for Tanaka)

Confident on the ball but got nutmegged. Put in a tackle or two. 5

BRENDEN AARONSON (on 66' for James)

Won a free-kick to get Leeds out, then later drove forward. 6

NOAH OKAFOR (on 66' for Okafor)

Failed to take on his man with first phase with the ball. Tough gig to come into. 5

LUKAS NMECHA (on 58' for Piroe)

Couldn't connect with Aaronson's cross. Hardly got a kick. 3
