We’ve all been aware of Mike Tomlin’s affection for Aaron Rodgers, dating back to the infamous smile and head nod when the Pittsburgh Steelers faced the Packers in Green Bay a handful of years ago.
The romance between the two is undeniable.
This week, Tomlin spoke to [Bob Labriola of Steelers.com](https://www.steelers.com/news/tomlin-on-qb-upgrade-cut-to-53-attitude) about why Rodgers is an upgrade over last year’s signal callers, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
“He has a unique resume,” Tomlin said. “And not only a unique resume and experience, but those who have watched practice realize he still has very unique arm talent. There’s not a throw that he can’t make from any body position or angle. He’s a unicorn. He’s one-of-one. And so it makes it a totally different conversation.”
There is immense pressure on Tomlin to win this season, as the Steelers’ streak of not winning a playoff game has extended to eight years. He has the highest-paid defense in the league, and now he’s added a signal-caller who, in his eyes, represents an improvement. They are a team that won ten games and made the playoffs last season. With Rodgers at the helm, Tomlin knows it’s time to take that next step.
