Leeds United lost their first away game of the season at Arsenal. The game really showed the gulf in class between the two sides on Saturday.
Despite the Whites’ impressive performance in their first game against Everton, Arsenal was a much tougher task. Daniel Farke said his team would not back down, and they showed initiative in some spells during the 90 minutes. However, the Gunners were just too good, and punished Leeds’ mistakes during the game.

Leeds did well in the opening half hour and were still in the game, but lost all control after that. Arsenal managed to get two goals before half-time and it was downhill from there. Gary Neville had a lot to say about Daniel Farke’s setup for the game.
“For me Leeds have to figure out a better way of playing away from home. They have set up to defend but the only way they can get up the pitch is by playing through Arsenal.
“Coming to the Emirates that style does not work, they don’t have the players to play through them and then the direct route does not work either.
“They have James, Gnonto and Piroe up front but going direct to them does not work. It is clear they need to find another way.”
“I think that front three who have done so well in the Championship, if you ask Leeds fans I think they would mostly say they need more up front.
“You look at the players they brought on, even Nmecha coming on can hold the ball up better and the manager has to go with those players for games like these.
“Daniel Farke’s selection today was never going to work with the style they came to play with, it is worrying he thought that was the way to go.”
Leeds have to fix up before Newcastle tie
The Whites have now seen how difficult it is to go up against quality opposition. Daniel Farke will now have to go back to the drawing board and see how the team can get a result against Newcastle next weekend.
