Report: Zahavi requests meeting with Liverpool over ‘superstar’ Isak alternative, he’s keen on…

Liverpool are set to hold a transfer meeting with super-agent Pini Zahavi over a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, according to Punch Sports.

Los Blancos' opened their La Liga campaign against Osasuna on Tuesday and came away victorious, with Kylian Mbappe bagging the sole strike as Madrid won 1-0, but Rodrygo was forced to watch proceedings from the bench as he was an unused substitute.

Manager Xabi Alonso has stated that 'nothing is going on' with Rodrygo and he will still rely on him, despite leaving him on the bench against Osasuna, but the player's agent is keen to secure a move elsewhere and arrived in London on Wednesday to try and make that happen.

Rodrygo's Agent Keen On Securing Move to England

Rodrygo in action for Real Madrid

Rodrygo joined Real Madrid in 2019 after breaking through at Santos. He was just 18 years old when he moved to Spain and over the next six years, he became a key figure for Los Blancos, scoring 68 goals in 270 appearances for them and was even labelled a 'superstar' by former teammate Luka Modric.

Last season was his worst in front of goal since 2021/22, though, and following Alonso's appointment, he's found game time hard to come by at Madrid.

During the FIFA Club World Cup, he played just 93 minutes and was left on the bench in three of their six matches. That was his fate again against Osasuna as they got their league campaign underway and now, his agent is keen on securing a move elsewhere and travelled to England earlier this week.

He's now requested meetings with Liverpool and Arsenal to discuss a move for his client. He's considered an alternate option to Alexander Isak should the Newcastle United striker remain at St. James' Park and is said to be open to moving to Liverpool.

It had previously been reported that Arsenal would only make a move for the Brazilian if they raised the funds through player sales, but with Kai Havertz recently picking up an injury that will rule him out for the foreseeable future, plans have changed and they're interested in bringing him to the Emirates this summer.

According to Punch Sports Extra, Madrid are open to the idea of selling Rodrygo, but want around €100m for him. The 24-year-old is willing to leave the club in search of more regular football. The report has ruled out Manchester City as possible suitors for Rodrygo, despite earlier interest in him.
