”Arsenal deserved to win” – Leeds United boss Daniel Farke on Saturday’s defeat

Leeds United were humbled after a thrashing away to Arsenal at the Emirates. The feeling was in direct contrast to their win against Everton on Monday night.

Daniel Farke was right when he said his team would not change their style. Leeds persisted on playing out from the back and keeping possession, even if it meant making some errors. Goalkeeper Lucas Perri was caught out a few times but luckily it did not lead to goal.

But the Brazilian’s goalkeeping raised a lot of eye brows. Former Arsenal man Theo Walcott said the Leeds stopper could have done better on some of the goals:

“There is question marks around the Leeds goalkeeper Perri. It goes over his shoulder and I think he should perhaps do better.

“Maybe he is not expecting the shot to come at him so fast but I think he should have done better.”

The Whites lost 4-0 to Arsenal and were completely outplayed on the night. When Daniel Farke was asked about his thoughts on the game, he admitted that the Gunners were the better team on the day.

”Arsenal deserved to win the game with a proper goal difference. Not sure if it was 5-0. Five shots on target and scored from them all.

”When a team like Arsenal are on it, one of best in Europe, then it’s always difficult.

”On the back of a win at Man Utd and new signings are presenting and the whole stadium was buzzing. We were a bit nervous but survived. After 30 mins we had best chance in game.

”Annoying how we conceded the goals. Wish for a bit more awareness. Two goals in added time. Underestimated their counter pressing.

”Penalty looked a bit soft. When they are on it and effective, it’s always difficult. Not a season defining game. They deserved to win that game. Won’t over analyse this game too much.”

Leeds’ next Premier League game is at home to Newcastle, the Whites will be hoping they can repeat the result against Everton.
