Steelers Reveal Surprising Rookie Injury Update

The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to put together a championship season in 2025. Every move the team made in the offseason was driven towards making that goal become a reality.

Of course, the biggest addition was future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Outside of that move, the Steelers also acquired DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, and Jonnu Smith.

All three of those moves will give them a fighting chance to make a run at the Super Bowl.

During the 2025 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh brought in some big talents. In the first round, they selected former Oregon Ducks standout defensive tackle Derrick Harmon.

Harmon has been expected to be a potential starter right off the bat for the Steelers. However, he went down with an injury that was originally diagnosed as an MCL sprain. That diagnosis would have come with a potential 4-6 week timetable for return.

While the original update about Harmon was not promising, a surprising new update has given reason for optimism.

According to a report from Pittsburgh insider Gerry Dulac, Harmon will not be put on IR and might only miss one regular season game.

"Steelers have no intention of putting Harmon on IR and think it's possible he will miss only one game," Dulac wrote on X.

Last season with Oregon, Harmon put together a big-time year. He racked up 45 total tackles to go along with five sacks, two forced fumbles, and two defended passes.

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 313 pounds, Harmon will be an intimidating physical presence on the defensive line. It sounds like that presence will be felt much sooner than expected following the latest update.

Hopefully, there are no setbacks for the Steelers' rookie and he is able to get back on the field with only one missed game. That would be an ideal scenario, as he is expected to play a key role for the defense.

Expect to hear more updates about Harmon in the near future. For now, it's all good news for Pittsburgh.
