Leeds United are currently leading the race for Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa, with Nottingham Forest also mentioned as a potential suitor.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Leeds United are currently leading the race for Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa. The newly promoted Premier League side are vying to end the window on a high, and would view signing a wide attacker as a key piece of business, although they face competition from Nottingham Forest for the attacker.
Dilane Bakwa has shown tremendous improvements with his game over the last two seasons since his move to Strasbourg. The attacker got six goals and nine assists last season in Ligue 1, which was much better than his first campaign with the French side.
The winger already had plenty of Premier League interest, and now it appears Leeds United are leading the race to get a deal done. Strasboutrg are demanding €35 million to sell the attacker, with the Yorkshire side ready to meet their demands over a move.
Signing the €35 million-rated Ligue 1 forward would be seen as a significant investment from Leeds United’s perspective; however, they need to get a deal in place soon. They recently signed Noah Okafor from AC Milan, and while the Swiss international prefers to operate from the left-hand side, Leeds United could now be looking to strengthen the right wing.
Bakwa can also operate in various positions including the left-wing, although he prefers the right hand side. The fact that they are willing to pay the price for the €35 million-rated Ligue 1 forward, they are currently ahead in the race, while Nottingham Forest are also keeping close tabs.
Nottingham Forest part of the Dilane Bakwa race
Leeds United will want the deal wrapped up at the earliest, although they may worry about Nottingham Forest’s involvement. While the Tricky Trees are not particularly accelerating in pursuit of a move, they are indeed keeping close tabs.
Forest have had a tremendous window, and also signed right winger Dan Ndoye, although Bakwa is of a different profile. Hence, they might look to invest in the €35 million-rated Ligue 1 forward, although they might have to accelerate or watch Leeds Untied take away the forward.
