Josh Allen has been the epitome of durability throughout his seven seasons in the NFL. The Buffalo Bills immediately made him the starter in his rookie season, but after missing four games that year because of a UCL sprain, Allen hasn’t missed a game due to injury since.
The Wyoming product has also played in at least one preseason game in each of the seven years he’s been in the league. But that will change this season after Adam Schefter announced that Allen will be held out of Buffalo’s final tune-up game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, marking the first time in his career that he’s sat for the entire preseason.

This is a drastic change for Allen and the Bills as they do everything in their power to find a successful formula for overthrowing the Kansas City Chiefs. The reigning MVP arguably had his best opportunity last season when the public perception of the Chiefs was that they were their weakest in the Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid era.
Buffalo has been under a bit of scrutiny from their fanbase this offseason for the lack of attention they showed to the offensive side of the ball. Allen was asked about this sentiment during the team’s last game, but he danced around the question.
This means that the Bills must be banking on the chemistry Allen developed with his receivers last year improving and the rest they got in the preseason playing a factor in what seems like a yearly postseason battle with Kansas City. Last season, the reigning MVP became the first player in NFL history to lose to the same team four times in the playoffs without a single win.
All of the losses haven’t been Allen’s fault, but the team knows that he is their only hope of finally slaying the beast, so they’ll throw anything at the wall to give their guy the upper hand.
