Arsenal have reportedly submitted an offer for Rodrygo Goes to test Real Madrid’s resolve, with the player’s future appearing increasingly away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal have reportedly submitted a €78 million offer to tempt Real Madrid into selling Rodrygo Goes. The Brazilian winger appears out of Xabi Alonso’s plans, with the Gunners still pondering strengthening their attack after the arrival of Eberechi Eze.
Arsenal could yet finish their transfer window with one more big signing. Mikel Arteta’s side have had an unprecedented summer window following the arrival of seven new players, with Eberechi Eze being the latest of the lot, following his big move from Crystal Palace.
The arrival of Eze is seen as essential to the squad, although the Gunners brought him without offloading a current first-team member. There are rumours of one of their current left-wingers in Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard, leaving before the transfer window deadline, in which case, Arsenal would be interested in signing Rodrygo Goes.
The report states, they have already made a €78 million offer to test Real Madrid’s resolve over the Brazilian winger. The attacker is not seen as an integral part of new manager Xabi Alonso’s squad, with some quarters suggesting he could be ready to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are reportedly demanding at least €90 million, and for now, Arsenal’s offer is very close to what the Spanish side wants from the sale. Whether the Gunners are willing to go near the demands remains to be seen, but bringing the Brazilian will undoubtedly strengthen Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of the new season.
Arsenal could face Rodrygo competition
Arsenal are not alone, as Liverpool are also in the mix, with recent reports stating Rodrygo’s agent was in London to hold talks with both clubs. The Merseysiders are also in the mix, as they are a bit short in their attacking setup.
Manchester City were linked earlier, although the report states that Pep Guardiola have currently withdrawn from the race as any move will be contingent on Savinho leaving. For now, Arsenal are leading the race, and it remains to be seen whether they make an offer close to the €90 million-rated Real Madrid attacker’s price point.
