Gianluigi Donnarumma appears to have bid farewell to Paris Saint-Germain supporters after Friday’s 1-0 victory over Angers, having been ostracised from Luis Enrique’s squad.
The 26-year-old’s time in the French capital was already uncertain following the failure of the Italian goalkeeper and the club to agree on new contract terms prior to the arrival of Lucas Chevalier from Lille in early August.
That signing immediately signalled the end of Donnarumma’s four-year spell at PSG, and the goalkeeper, who played a key role in Enrique’s team winning their first Champions League title in 2024-25, has since posted an emotional message to fans on social media, suggesting he was pushed out of the club.
After being omitted from the Parisians’ successful away game at Nantes in week one, the four-time Ligue 1 winner had the opportunity to say goodbye to supporters following Friday’s victory at Parc des Princes.

The emotional Donnarumma stood alone for more than 30 seconds, clapping and waving, before climbing over the hoardings to get closer to the fans, probably as a farewell gesture as a move to Manchester City reportedly draws nearer.

Despite reports linking the Italy international with a move to the Premier League giants, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that any potential transfer depends on the sale of Ederson.
The Brazilian goalkeeper’s future at the Etihad is uncertain, with Galatasaray’s interest leading to a €10m (£8.7m) bid, though the eight-time Premier League champions reportedly want a fee closer to €25m (£21.7m).
Ederson, 32, has been an unused substitute in Manchester City’s opening league matches this season, sitting out the 4-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on matchday one before watching new £27m signing James Trafford struggle on his home debut in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
After a fairly smooth debut at Wolves, Trafford’s error-filled performance in the defeat to Spurs might raise doubts about the Englishman, whose chances of securing the No. 1 spot are affected by the potential signing of Donnarumma.
Should Trafford be nervous about Donnarumma’s potential arrival?

Man City’s interest in Donnarumma seems unusual, given the goalkeeper’s weaknesses in possession and his apparent difficulty commanding his area.
While the Italy international’s shot-stopping ability undeniably surpasses Trafford’s, Guardiola might be questioning the former AC Milan player’s limitations in such aspects.
These potential concerns were reinforced after Trafford’s disastrous performance in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, with the ex-Burnley player responsible for Joao Palhinha’s goal after essentially gifting Pape Matar Sarr the ball with a poor pass from a goal kick.
Although Guardiola’s style is now less dependent on short passing from the back, with the Spaniard’s approach occasionally seeing his goalkeepers kick long, Donnarumma may still need to make quick passes, and his weaknesses could become costly for the Manchester giants if the reported transfer proceeds.
