The Pittsburgh Steelers have released tight end Kevin Foelsch as part of their 11 cuts on Friday, the team announced. Foelsch joined the team after injuries, and was released once and then brought back.
Foelsch, 24, was with the Philadelphia Eagles last season but was cut. The Steelers needed another tight end after rookie DJ Thomas-Jones went down with an injury during training camp.
Foelsch was most recently on the Kansas City Chiefs, who released him on June 20. Since then, he has participated in multiple workouts, but has not signed with any teams
Foelsch has also spent time with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets over his career.
He played at Division-II college New Haven, where he caught seven touchdowns during his senior campaign in 2023. He was selected to all-conference honors three times over his years at New Haven, and was the first player from the college to even make it into an NFL camp since 2017.
