Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane provided fans with an update on cornerback Tre’Davious White in a pre-game segment ahead of the team’s preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In an interview with WIVB-TV’s Josh Reed on Bills Kickoff Live, Beane said that White is dealing with a lower leg injury. No timeline was provided for the cornerback, but Beane said they’ll “hopefully get him back.”
“Had a little lower leg injury,” Beane said. We’re not going to say a lot at this point. Hopefully, we’ll get him back when we can. At this point, it’s just a matter of getting him through... He’s getting treatment. We’ll see next week what timelines are."
White suffered the injury at Thursday’s practice inside Highmark Stadium. The cornerback needed two teammates to help him get off the field during an 11-on-11 session. Trainers swarmed the cornerback, who was able to walk into the tunnel of the stadium. White walked back to the edge of the tunnel before he was taken to the locker room in a cart.
White re-signed with the Bills in April. He had been working as the team’s No.2 cornerback opposite Christian Benford since his return, despite the team drafting Maxwell Hairston in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Hairston is currently out of action after suffering a knee injury at training camp.
The cornerback has a history of lower-body injuries in recent years. White tore his ACL on Thanksgiving night in 2021 and suffered an Achilles’ injury in Week 4 of 2023. His return from the injuries was featured prominently on HBO’s Hard Knocks this season.
