Viktor Gyokeres enjoyed a dream start to life at the Emirates Stadium, scoring his first goals for Arsenal in a resounding 5-0 win over Leeds United. The Swedish striker, making his home debut, struck twice to cap off a commanding performance that underlined the Gunners’ attacking firepower.

Gyokeres opened his Arsenal account just two minutes into the second half, cutting inside from the left before firing a thunderous strike beyond Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri. He later added his second of the night in stoppage time, calmly dispatching a penalty to round off the victory.

Reflecting on the performance, the 27-year-old was visibly delighted. “It was a great feeling to score early on,” Gyokeres said. “We started well, created chances, and scored two in the first half. I had a good chance myself that I should have scored, but we just kept going and I’m happy it came in the second half.”

The Emirates crowd provided a raucous backdrop to Arsenal’s display, with Gyokeres quick to acknowledge the supporters’ impact. “It was amazing to feel that support from minute one to the end,” he added. “It gives you that extra energy to keep going. To win 5-0 and keep another clean sheet was great.”

“It was nice to get the rhythm going and play with the guys even more,” he said. “I think it was a good game overall.”

He also praised his teammates for their pressing and cohesion. “Scoring two was special, but what really mattered was how the team pressed and attacked together. We showed tonight that we can be a massive threat going forward, and defensively we worked hard to give them very little. I think we deserved the win.”

The victory capped off a strong night for Mikel Arteta’s side, with Gyokeres’ home debut brace hinting at the clinical edge Arsenal hope he will provide this season.
