GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers brought the preseason to a satisfying conclusion on Saturday, taking down the Seattle Seahawks 20-7 at Lambeau Field.
Green Bay scored the game's first 20 points and didn't let the visiting Seahawks get on the board until a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Jalen Milroe to Cody White.
The Packers defense gave the fans lots to cheer, forcing five fumbles and recovering four, three from Milroe alone. The former Alabama QB, who played the whole game, was sacked five times.
Malik Willis threw an interception on Green Bay's opening drive, but the Packers generated points on each of the next three. First, Willis capped a 96-yard excursion that took nearly half the quarter by hitting Romeo Doubs on a 1-yard play. After a forced fumble and a Green Bay field goal, Taylor Elgersma delivered another short touchdown pass, this to Will Sheppard.
Green Bay was outgained 253-206 despite an advantage of more than 10 minutes in time of possession.
The Packers (2-1) will start playing for keeps in the regular-season opener vs. Detroit on Sept. 7.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
