Manchester United have been linked with Angelo Stiller who could be available for just £31.5m in 2026
Manchester United’s condition for the last few months have been such that any fan’s heart can be heavy after seeing it. The decline of the 2024/25 season is not letting them yet. The team finished in 15th place in the Premier League, lost the Europa League final to Tottenham, and this time also got out of European competitions.
After this, the start of the 2025/26 season was also against expectations. The first match was played against Arsenal on Sunday. United showed brilliance in the beginning, but gradually the game got out of hand. A mistake by Altay Bayindir gave Riccardo Calafiori a chance to head, and that proved to be the only goal of the match. Benjamin Sesko came from the bench, Bryan Mbeumo tried, but goalkeeper David Raya stopped him. The next match against Fulham will bring even more pressure as the start of the season has already been spoiled.
Eyes on Angelo Stiller
Now, amid this disappointing start, the transfer talks are hot again. According to the report of Manchester Evening News, United’s eyes are on Angelo Stiller. Reports suggest Stiller has a £31.5 million release clause, but that won’t be activated until 2026. That means United will have to pay a lot more than the usual price if they want to sign him now. The club have been looking for a defensive midfielder all summer as Casemiro may no longer be a reliable option long-term due to his age. Names such as Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton have cropped up, but their prices have proved to be above the club’s budget.

While reports of Angelo Stiller had raised some hope, it’s also clear United have yet to make an official move. The club will have to decide whether to pay a premium now to secure their future or wait and risk the likes of Arsenal or Tottenham snapping up the player.
What’s the right thing to do?
As we had reported earlier, with the summer transfer window coming to a close in a few days, we don’t think it is neither the right move to pay a huge transfer fee to sign the 24-year-old German, nor do we have that much money given that we have spent so much on our three new signings, and yet to sell our out of favour players.
Moreover, Stuttgart will not be letting him leave with no proper replacement, and hence it is better to wait till the next summer transfer window. If Stiller does not sign a new contract, then he will definitely be a fantastic signing for us at that release clause. Moreover, if we do go on to perform well in this season, that could attract the German even more to sign for us and play at Old Trafford. So, patience should be the key now. Meanwhile, Adrien Rabiot is set to be offered to Manchester United this summer.
