Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders’ sons risk NFL futures in preseason finales

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders’ two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, are finding that the grass isn’t greener on the other side.

While the two were stars for their father at Jackson State University and the University of Colorado Boulder, Shilo and Shedeur’s NFL preseasons spiraled out of control at the most crucial of times.

For the “Grown QB,” the Cleveland Browns figured out their fifth-round draft pick is nowhere close to starting at the highest level just yet. Shedeur struggled against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, looking less like an NFL quarterback than his counterpart, former UT Martin Skyhawk Dresser Winn.

Shedeur will make the roster, per Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, but that may be through Browns GM Andrew Berry’s grace and the potential fan backlash if they cut him. It helps that QB1 Joe Flacco and Shedeur have a relationship.

Meanwhile, Shilo possibly ended his NFL career by getting ejected in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills. Shilo punched Bills tight end Zach Davidson.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio didn’t speak in Shilo having a future in Tampa with any certainty.

“It remains to be seen whether Sanders earns a spot on the team. Rosters reduce from 90 to 53 on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET,” Florio wrote.

“Sanders is listed as a third-string safety on the team’s unofficial depth chart.”

The future is unclear for Coach Prime’s sons. Luckily, as long as Deion is the Buffs’ head coach, there’s likely a role for both on his coaching staff. Both have their degrees, so they wouldn’t run into the same problem Warren Sapp faced before joining Coach Prime’s staff.
