Jaguars have the perfect fallback for teams who missed out on Brian Robinson

The Jacksonville Jaguars went 0-2-1 in the 2025 preseason after falling to the Miami Dolphins in the finale. They would've surely liked to win at least one game. After all, who likes to lose? The silver lining is that their record won't count in the standings. Moreover, the team's brass was able to assess the roster.

On the other hand, players got ample work before the season, and many of them took advantage of the opportunity to make an impression. Conversely, a few others saw their stock drop.

With that in mind, here are the biggest winners and losers from the Jaguars' three preseason games.

Jaguars winner: Trevor Lawrence, quarterback

This one is an easy one. After spending the offseason fixing his mechanics, Trevor Lawrence showed notable improvement in two preseason games, completing 82.4 percent of his throws for 119 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Granted, he lost a fumble in Week 2, through no fault of his own.

You could make the case that No. 16 only played a few series, but he looked confident in the pocket and did a good job of spreading the ball to his receiver. If that's the Lawrence the Jaguars will get week in and week out in the regular season, they'll make plenty of noise.

Jaguars loser: Austin Trammell, wide receiver

The Jaguars are almost set at wide receiver. Travis Hunter, Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Dyami Brown, and Trenton Irwin are virtually locks to make the team. Joshua Cephus seemed like the favorite to get the sixth spot, but was released before the regular season.

Then, Jacksonville inquired about Devaughn Vele, showing a lack of confidence in the rest of their receiver group. If the front office were confident in Austin Trammell, it wouldn't be looking for outside help.

And that's the thing: Trammell spent 2024 in the practice squad. He had a chance to compete for a roster spot next season, but didn't do much of note. The preseason came, and he caught four catches for 27 yards. He had an opportunity to boost his stock in the finale but had a drop and finished the game with a measly three catches for 21 yards.

Trammell could end up in the practice squad again, but you can bet that he won't make the 53-man roster.

Jaguars winner: Parker Washington, receiver

Wide receiver Parker Washington was among the Jaguars who didn't suit up for the finale, and deservedly so. In two preseason games, the former Penn State Nittany Lion only logged five catches for 24 yards, but Lawrence often looked for him. Moreover, he was a standout in training camp, routinely making plays when called upon.

Even if Washington doesn't start in 2025, he's done enough to earn plenty of targets.

Jaguars loser: Chad Muma, linebacker

You know you'll be on the cellar or the depth chart or get cut after the preseason when you get extended action in the finale. Such was the case of Chad Muma, who was unremarkable in his first three NFL seasons and hasn't been able to get the most out of the fresh start he got under the new regime.

Muma, a third-round pick in the 2022 draft, didn't do much of note in the offseason and didn't make enough plays in three preseason games to make you think he'll stick around. Compounding the issue is that fellow linebacker Jack Kiser did stand out.

Heck, Muma got extended playing time against Miami but had a quiet day while Kiser logged a sack. At this point, it would be shocking if he sticks around in 2025.

Jaguras winners: BJ Green and Danny Striggow, edge rushers

Undrafted rookies have an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster, but BJ Green and Danny Striggow should feel good about their odds. Both of them shined in training camp and the preseason.

To cap the preseason, Green and Striggow each registered a sack against the Dolphins. They could still be left out, but if that's the case, they'll either land in the Jacksonville practice squad or be poached by other teams.

Jaguars loser: Seth Henigan, quarterback

The Jaguars signed Seth Henigan as an undrafted free agent. The former Tiger lacked arm strength but had intriguing traits to be a developmental prospect. However, he was relatively quiet in the offseason and was a non-factor in the preseason, going 42-of-69 for 255 with three interceptions.

Maybe Henigan can continue developing in the practice squad, but don't expect to hear much from him in 2025.
