Brooks and Adams impress in Wolves win: Player ratings

Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring inside five minutes with a goal that got a heavy deflection and went in off the underside of the bar after a flying Cherries start.

While the game settled down, Bournemouth were the better side throughout and Wolves did not threaten.

The Daily Echo rates the Cherries players in victory.

**Djordje Petrovic: 7**

The keeper made the only save he needed to, and it was a good one, down to his right from a Jorgen Strand Larsen header. He was largely untroubled after that, but his distribution was good and he looks to be settling in nicely.

**Adrien Truffert: 7**

The left back was good again and looks right at home in the Cherries side. He looked a threat overlapping on the left and combined well with Antoine Semenyo.

The Frenchman got better as the game went on but he and Senesi looked very good against what was admittedly a pretty blunt Wolves attack.

**Marcos Senesi: 8**

As above, Senesi looked more and more comfortable with Diakite as the 90 minutes progressed. The pair kept Jorgen Strand Larsen down to just one chance for the game.

**Adam Smith: 7**

The skipper was impressive, dependable as ever and strong defensively, while contributing going forward.

**Tyler Adams: 9**

The American was excellent and looks set to play a key role this season. He made a couple of key interventions including one which saw him marshal David Moller Wolfe out wide and restrict him to a cross only when he looked to be in on goal.

**Alex Scott: 7**

Scott was good in midfield, dropping into a more conventional number 8 role after last Friday’s slightly tweaked midfield to match up with Liverpool. Possibly could have done a little better with a couple of first half chances.

Semenyo was his usual threatening self. He, too, had a couple of good opportunities and arguably should have scored with ten minutes on the clock, but struck the bar from four yards after an excellent Brooks cross.

**Marcus Tavernier: 8**

The Englishman got the key goal, and he was good in the press throughout the game.

**David Brooks: 9**

Another brilliant showing from the Welshman. He was deservedly named man of the match and was a real handful for the Wolves defence, with some wonderful crosses that deserved a finish.

**Evanilson: 8**

The Brazilian was very good in drawing the foul that led to Toti’s red card. His all-round play was as good as ever and he made some brilliant runs that were picked out on occasion, particularly by Brooks. Needs a goal to get up and running for the season, though.

Substitutes:

**Amine Adli: 7**

The Moroccan looked bright on his debut and didn’t look afraid to take on his man – an exciting first outing for the winger.

**Ryan Christie: 6**

**Justin Kluivert: 6**

**James Hill: N/A**

**Eli Junior Kroupi: N/A**
