With just nine days left of the transfer window, the clock is ticking for Newcastle United to make further additions to their squad.
At the centre of this window has been Alexander Isak, after the striker informed Newcastle of his wish to explore his options away from the club. He has already been subject of an offer of £110 million from Liverpool, which Newcastle turned down.
Isak's future remains unresolved and on Monday Newcastle return to Premier League action against, of all teams, Liverpool.
As a result, the Magpies have been linked with players who could bolster their attack and have Brentford's Yoane Wissa and Atletico Madrid's Alexander Sorloth on their shortlist.
With that said, ChronicleLive has taken a look at the latest Newcastle United headlines...

Alexander Isak latest
Our sister site, the Liverpool ECHO, has outlined the latest transfer on Isak as the window approaches its final week. They report that Liverpool are still interested in Isak but are maintaining a cautious approach after their initial bid was rejected.
The report adds that recent developments over the past few weeks have increased speculation that a deal could be possible.
ChronicleLive says: This is a tricky situation. Isak’s reluctance to continue at Newcastle is evident, despite having three years left on his contract. While the club could technically reintegrate him into the squad, having a player who is visibly unhappy and doesn't want to be at the club could lead to a disruption of team harmony and in turn affect performances on the pitch.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are keeping a close eye on developments and that interest isn’t likely to fade - particularly given Isak's apparent desire to make the move to Anfield.
Osula 'exit' claim
Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claims William Osula could leave Newcastle before the transfer window closes on Monday, September 1. The report claims that the striker has attracted interest from the Bundesliga and is on Bayer Leverkusen's radar.
Erik ten Hag is reportedly eager to bolster Bayer's attacking options this summer. However, Plettenberg reckons that nothing is advanced yet.
ChronicleLive says: Allowing this move to happen could have a major impact in the squad and it is also a risky decision. With Alexander Isak unavailable, Newcastle currently have no recognised senior strikers, leaving Osula as the only option under Eddie Howe.
With the transfer window closing on September 1 and Isak’s situation unresolved, letting Osula leave the club could leave Newcastle dangerously short up front. Although the club has been linked with new strikers, time is running out and completing both deals before the deadline could prove difficult.
