United showed signs of promise during their opening weekend clash with Arsenal, though they ultimately fell short with a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford. On another day, United could have easily gotten something from the match and only lost to a goalkeeping error from Altay Bayindir.
The real test of their improvement will come over the next few matches as United face Fulham and Grimsby away from home, before they welcome Burnley to Old Trafford in the final match before the September international break. Asked if his team is getting more physical, he told reporters: "You can see that is a fact, because you can see with the data. Then with confidence sometimes you react a little bit sooner and you are near the ball.
"Against Arsenal, we were sometimes building up, we had to kick the ball and you can see the reactions of our players in the second ball. The duels, we are stronger. We are recovering position faster. I remember at least two times in the corner, one time with Odegaard running with the ball and you can look at our players and we are sprinting full power, even Casemiro, he is in a different pace.
