Pau Gasol paid tribute to his late former teammate Kobe Bryant on what would have been his 47th birthday.
NBA legend Pau Gasol continues to carry strong emotions for his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate, the late Kobe Bryant.
Five years have passed since Bryant’s tragic death, a loss that shook the basketball world to its core. For Gasol, the bond remains as strong as ever, especially with what would have been Bryant’s 47th birthday on Saturday.
“Happy Birthday, hermano. I miss you and love you always,” Gasol wrote in a heartfelt X (formerly Twitter) post, honoring his teammate and close friend.
Gasol and Bryant formed one of the NBA’s most iconic duos, leading the Lakers to back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010.
Together, they guided the team to three straight Finals appearances between 2008 and 2010, establishing themselves as one of the most dominant partnerships of that era.
During his seven seasons in Los Angeles (2008–2014), Gasol played 429 games for the Lakers, averaging 17.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game on 52.2% shooting from the field.
He earned three All-Star selections while serving as the Lakers’ second option next to Bryant.
