But you would not have thought it when she rejoined her adopted second club for another season on loan from Arsenal.
There were hugs all round with players and staff she knew from last term as she joined their training camp.
And they were having to drag her off the training pitch the day before a friendly against Levante as she worked on her skills in the heat of south-east Spain.
Agyemang’s return from the Gunners feels like quite a coup for the ambitious Seagulls.
And it also feels rather different from when she first arrived a year ago – or even well into last season.
Agyemang made an instant impact on her Lionesses debut in April with a fabulous goal just seconds after going on against Belgium.
But it was her efforts at the Euros which turned her into a national headline-maker, a well-known name and face and possibly even a minor celebrity.
“From what I've seen, she's the same old Miche,” Albion head coach Dario Vidosic told The Argus at the training base in Spain.
“She has been terrific, straight in with the girls. I think she was really happy when she came in and saw them and I think that was shown on the club socials.
“From the get-go, she was staying back working on a few different things.
“We had to sort of try to push her off the pitch just to look after her because we had got a game the next day.
“So she's the same girl and we'll make sure we keep her grounded! But you know that she knows there is still a lot to achieve.
“This was just one part of the journey so I think we will have absolutely no trouble keeping her level."
Albion’s squad is showing a lot of changes going into the 2025-26 season – especially for a club who did so well last term.
For a while it felt like Agyemang would be one of the departures but Vidosic was also hopeful Arsenal might allow her to return.
He said: “They were looking for a loan.
“We were in talks and I think she trusts us as a club and as a coaching staff, that we're the right place for her at the moment where she can develop, get better.
“We're thankful to have her back as well and for her trust.
“After her Euros as well, you're never really too sure because she has done really, really well, helped England to win, to be champions.
“I'm sure the two clubs were in constant talk and that was the plan.
“When I chatted to her, she was like, ‘I just want to get there. I want to get started’.
“She was right on board from the from the very start.
“Arsenal probably, I'm guessing, would have been her choice as well.
“After that, when the plan was sort of mapped out to her, she couldn't wait to get back and join us.”
From the outside it felt like Agyemang’s 2024-25 season could be split into two parts.
Before her debut goal for England and after it.
That control and right-footed blast in Leuven seemed to take her to another level both for club and country.
She scored in her next two WSL games – against Liverpool at the Amex and then in a win at Everton – taking her to five for the season.
From the inside, Vidosic did not quite see her season like that.
He said: “I think it was a steady progression.
“She needed to work a lot. As a young player, there's always stuff that we can improve on and also coming into our way of playing.
“She missed the pre-season with us, she came in right at the end.
“It took her time to understand, to learn, also developing her physically, to be able to play 90 minutes at the required level.
“It all took time. She was patient. She trusted. She had opportunities coming off the bench and you know with young players you'll always experience ups and downs as they experience different scenarios, different things and they are learning.
“I think she had a good season and she is hungry to achieve even more this season.”
There was plenty of excitement about Agyemang on awards night at the Amex as she was named Albion’s young player of the year.
And then came the national team success with Albion fans watching and not quite sure whether or not to think of her as a representative of their club.
“Look, I wasn't too surprised to tell you the truth,” Vidosic said of Agyemang’s impact at the Euros.
“When she's coming on, she can impact games. She's got a lot of quality. She can score goals.
“She knows where the goal is so I wasn't too surprised by the impact she had.”
Now comes the next part. Taking the next step. Handling a certain level of expectation.
Different challenges – same Michelle Agyemang.
