The latest on Wolves’ pursuit of this transfer target from their Premier League rivals.
Wolves are reportedly working on their next signing of the summer window, with their sights set on bringing in a player from a Premier League rival.
Vitor Pereira is looking to strengthen his options at centre-back as the club look to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles. While Wolves finished comfortably above the bottom three in the end, there were serious relegation concerns during the first half of the campaign.
Wolves conceded 69 goals last season, the most of any non-relegated club throughout the season. Pereira and co are working on tightening their defence and having plenty of of depth to rotate if needed.
Wolves in talks to sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea
Wolves are one of the clubs interested in signing Axel Disasi this summer and according to CaughtOffside, they are the ones ‘pushing hardest’ to get a deal over the line.
The outlet posted the news on X, along with a more in depth report on the website. The report claims that Chelsea are looking secure a fee in the region of £30 million before sanctioning the sale.
Having struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, Disasi’s exit is now expected and Wolves are reportedly working on a smart deal that will steer clear of them overspending.
“Talks with Chelsea have already begun,” the CaughtOffside report claims. “Wolves are exploring creative solutions such as performance-based bonuses to complete the deal without stretching their budget.”
However, conversations are still said to be in an early stage and Disasi may still keep his options open. Premier League rivals Bournemouth are also interested in the centre-back, as are Serie A powerhouses Napoli.
Who else are Wolves interested in?
As well as Disasi, Wolves are also linked with the quick-moving transfer link that is Ladislav Krejci. The Old Gold are looking to bring the centre-back to Molineux from Girona and are said to be willing to pay the quoted €30 million (£26m) asking price.
Journalist Nil Solà followed up with an update that Wolves had entered the ‘key hours’ to finalise a deal with Krejci, backing up the £26 million offer claim. He wrote on X that Girona ‘will accept’ the offer from the Premier League side, while the player has already agreed personal terms with his potential new club in England.
Now, a fresh update from Spain has dropped. Friday’s edition of Marca, relayed via Sport Witness, reported that Wolves’ offer to both Girona and Krejci are ‘impossible to refuse’ and the Czechia international is expected to become a Wolves player this window.
If Wolves can get both centre-back signings over the line, they will significantly bolster their backline as they work on climbing the table and vie for a more positive overall season in the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano has since followed up with the news that Wolves have proceeded with their pursuit of Krejci and a club-to-club deal is now ‘done’, with a fee close to €35 million (£30m) agreed.
