Eberechi Eze has become the talk of the transfer window and QPR are set to benefit thanks to a sell-on clause.
The England international left Loftus Road in 2020 to join the Eagles on a transfer worth £17 million. QPR were clever enough to insert a 15 per cent sell-on clause into that deal, which will have the west London club rubbing their hands with his transfer to the Emirates Stadium confirmed on Saturday.

A fee was also coughed up for Burton Albion forward Rumarn Burrell while Amadou Mbengue and Kwame Poku arrived on free transfers from Reading and Peterborough United respectively. However, as Saturday’s poor 7-1 defeat to Coventry City proved, there is more to be done.
What was most worrying in that battering was the lack of character from the R’s to prevent a bad day from becoming an awful one. QPR need to add a proven Championship star with the experience to get more out of his teammates.
Perhaps an ambitious move for AFC Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing could provide that. Sky Sports reporter Luca Bendoni wrote on social media platform X: “Bournemouth are open to letting Philip Billing depart in the final days of the transfer window, with interest from UK clubs and Copenhagen. Rumours about Sheff United and Ipswich but no official offers to #afcb at this stage. Cherries aiming for fee in region of €10m.”
Philip Billing available for transfer
Sheffield United and Ipswich Town are touted as frontrunners for the 29-year-old and, given their immediate Premier League ambitions, could be considered more attractive options than QPR on paper. However, armed with that Eze fee, there’s no harm in the R’s entering the transfer race.
While AFC Bournemouth are supposedly asking for €10 million, around £8.6 million, that fee will likely come down with no immediate reports of bids. Should it drop to £6 million, the Eze fee could be splurged directly on Billing.
QPR spending such a large sum on one player would be somewhat out of character, but there’s no denying what Billing could bring to the team. Kieran Morgan is promising in the centre of the park but is just 19 years old while Harvey Vale is being eased into action following his serious injury.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Madsen struggles for consistency and Lucas Andersen left the club as a free agent this summer. There’s a big space for an experienced midfielder to come in and prove a season-defining arrival at QPR.
Billing has 21 goals and 15 assists in 112 Championship appearances and has the physicality to drive with the ball and be a game changer. He’s a box-to-box star who would lift the team both defensively and going forwards. The midfielder would come with Premier League experience too, having turned out in the top flight with both Huddersfield Town and AFC Bournemouth.
The player struggled for opportunities under Andoni Iraola over the first half of last season but would not arrive at Loftus Road without a fire in his belly. Over the second half of the season he was loaned to Napoli and helped the side get their hands on the Serie A trophy, scoring a vital goal in a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan.
A QPR move for Billing would be a head-turning piece of business but, thanks to Eberechi Eze, why can’t they challenge Championship rivals Ipswich Town and Sheffield United for a deal?
