Manchester United have the chance to add some more firepower to their ranks this summer
Manchester United have had an active summer on the recruitment front. They have until the deadline on Monday 1st September to bring in some more new faces. The Red Devils can also let some players head out the exit door as well before then.
Ruben Amorim’s side have delved into the market to sign the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. They still have the chance to further freshen up their ranks. The North West outfit have a new-look attacking department which should cause problems to opposition defenders over the coming weeks and months.
Manchester United should snap up Eduardo Camavinga
United have been linked with a surprise move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, as per a report by Spanish news outlet Fichajes. They have been long-term admirers of Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba. However, Camavinga would be a more exciting addition for their supporters.
Camavinga, 22, has bags of experience of playing at the top level and still has loads of years left ahead of him in the game. The France international, who has 26 caps under his belt, joined his current club back in 2021. Prior to his move to Spain, he rose up through the academy ranks at Rennes and was a regular for the Ligue 1 team at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team as a teenager.
He has since enjoyed plenty of game time at Real Madrid and has won a handful of trophies, most notably the Champions League twice. The Angola-born man has made 180 appearances in all competitions, 35 of which came in the last campaign, and he has scored four goals. However, his long-term situation is up in the air and he may well move on if his price tag is matched.
Why Eduardo Camavinga would be ideal for Manchetser United
United could see Camavinga as someone to add more quality to their midfield department. He would fit the bill for the Red Devils and would give them something different to call upon in the middle of the park. If he joined, he would be a significant upgrade on the likes of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte.
He is a winner and knows what it takes to win trophies. Despite his young age, he has been operating in and around an elite environment for the last five years at Real Madrid. Amorim would benefit from having someone with that experience and stature in and around the club and he will have the right character and attitude.
A change of scene would also do him good. United are still one of the biggest clubs in the world and have proved in this window that they can still attract top players. Sesko, Mbeumo and Cunha are all a testament to that and they could have easily gone to a team in a European competition.
They believed in the project though and will look forward to working under Amorim’s guidance. If they managed to get Camavinga as well, that would be another statement of intent and a message to the rest of the league that they mean serious business. Whether they will be able to tempt him away from Spain is a different story.
However, he is also likely to cost less than Baleba which could be another key in a potential deal.
