DeAndre Jordan is in the twilight of his career but has remained a steady veteran presence in the NBA. The 36-year-old center has spent the last three seasons with the Denver Nuggets, but remains a free agent ahead of what would be an 18th NBA campaign.
Last year, Jordan played sparingly but proved valuable in short stints, averaging 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 points and 0.9 assists while shooting 65.0 percent from the field across 56 appearances. With Jordan coming off the bench, the Nuggets finished fourth in the Western Conference and reached the second round of the NBA playoffs. Beyond the box score, his veteran experience provided depth to a Denver roster with championship ambitions.

Jordan has enjoyed a remarkable basketball career. He rose to stardom as part of the Los Angeles Clippers’ “Lob City” era with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, where his above-the-rim game made him one of the league’s most dominant centers. A three-time All-NBA selection, two-time rebounding champion, and 2017 NBA All-Star, Jordan built his legacy as an elite rim protector and finisher.
In recent years, Jordan has transitioned into a veteran bench role. He joined Denver in 2022 and was part of the Nuggets’ 2023 championship team.
DeAndre Jordan Announced His Retirement Plan
While many speculated that Jordan could be nearing retirement, the veteran big man put those rumors to rest earlier this summer. In a social media post reflecting on his 17th NBA season, he ended his caption, “PS: this isn’t a retirement post!”
Although there’s no new word about his contract with the Nuggets, which expired after the 2024-25 season, his willingness to adapt while remaining a respected voice in the locker room could prove useful to contending teams next season. Jordan’s days as an All-Star are behind him, but his presence ensures some added experience for any team willing to add him to its roster.
