Micah Richards has left a glowing review at Leeds United after a disappointing night against Arsenal.

Leeds suffered a 5-0 defeat against Arsenal, as Daniel Farke’s side failed to deal with the qualities of the Gunners’ forward line at the Emirates.

This saw a number of the Whites’ stars fail to perform to their best, which made it all the more strange to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin left out of the Leeds squad.

As a result, there was little positivity for the travelling Yorkshire faithful to take away from North London, especially with Jamie Redknapp seeing huge problems with the defeat at Arsenal.

Despite the widespread frustration emerging from LS11, Richards has still managed to pick out one Leeds ace who caught his eye in North London.

Leeds taught a lesson by Max Dowman at Arsenal

There is no hiding away from the fact that the Whites were ultimately being bullied by a 15-year-old by the time the full-time whistle was blown.

The Gunners may have lost Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka to injury during the clash, but they certainly didn’t feel the impact of those in-match exits.

This came largely down to the performance of their teenage sensation, who came off the bench and showcased his talents.

Youngest ever Premier League debuts:

Ethan Nwaneri vs Brentford – 18 September 2022 – 15 years, 5 months and 28 days

Max Doman vs Leeds United – 23 August 2025 – 15 years, 7 months and 23 days

Jeremy Monga vs Newcastle United – 7 April 2025 – 15 years, 8 months and 28 days

Harvey Elliot vs Wolves – 4 May 2019 – 16 years, 1 month, 0 days

Matthew Briggs vs Middlesbrough – 13 May 2007 – 16 years, 2 months and 7 days

Dowman won a penalty off Anton Stach in somewhat controversial fashion, in what was just one moment in a stunning performance.

With that in mind, Richards was left blown away by his showing, especially up against Gabriel Gudmundsson, whom the Englishman rates highly.

Speaking on Match of the Day (23 August), he said: “15 years of age, wow, what a Premier League debut.

“Not just because he nearly scored and assisted, but because for someone at 15 to be doing this and having the confidence to take on a really good full-back in Gudmundsson.”

There is no hiding away from the fact that further new signings feel necessary at Elland Road after a mixed start to the new campaign.

Having beaten Everton in positive fashion, such a heavy defeat at Arsenal has seemingly brought the Whites back down to earth.

This could spark a rush in the final week of the window to make moves happen, although one position that doesn’t need adding to is left-back.

In Gudmundsson, Farke has an excellent option, and that was on show against the Gunners, despite struggling against the unpredictable Dowman.

The man signed from Lille is likely to get better and better. He will have better days than the defeat against Arsenal.
