Leeds United given fresh James Hill transfer hope as Premier League boss makes honest admission

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola admits he "cannot guarantee" James Hill will remain at the Vitality Stadium amid reports linking the defender with a move to Leeds United.

Sky Sports have claimed the Whites are interested in signing Hill, who is a centre-back by trade but can also play at right-back. The 23-year-old has only played 25 times since joining the Cherries from Fleetwood Town for a reported £1m transfer fee.

Hill, who has had loan spells in Scotland with Hearts and Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers, has just one year remaining on his current contract. He started just six Premier League matches last term.

When asked about United's reported interest in Hill, Iraola said: "I have no news about this. It's new for me. This is news and I'm very happy with James Hill and definitely I want to keep him.

“I don't know, I cannot guarantee anything because this, like other players, you want to keep them. But if someone comes and pays the money that the club thinks that it works for every part he will leave like the others.

“But from my side he played the first day, some minutes and he's a player that I value.”

It is no secret Whites boss Daniel Farke is keen to bolster his full-back options going into the final week of the transfer window. Leicester City star James Justin is another player on their transfer shortlist but his recent injury has complicated talks. Farke wants more cover at full-back, with Isaac Schmidt expected to move on and join Werder Bremen.

It has been a productive summer for United on the transfer window. Nine new players have come through the door and Farke still hopes bring in more reinforcements between now and September 1.
