Report: Rangers now eyeing surprise move to sign £30,000-a-week Premier League striker

Rangers are eyeing a move to sign Everton striker Youssef Chermiti before the deadline, according to The Rangers Review.

Russell Martin hasn't had the best of starts at the Ibrox, with two draws in their opening two games of the Scottish Premiership season already putting pressure on the Englishman. Alongside a 3-1 home defeat to Club Brugge in Champions League qualification, Martin is looking to his cheque book to ease the pressure.

Having plucked talent out of three of the top four English leagues, Martin's next incoming could be coming from the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the form of forward, Chermiti.

Rangers have already acquired the attacking services of Mikey Moore, Oliver Antman, Oscar Cortes, Thelo Aasgaard and Djeidi Gassama. However, having scored just two goals in their opening two games, the Scottish side are searching for more.

Looking at outcasts in need of game time, Rangers have identified Everton forward, Chermiti, as a potential signing that could plunder in the goals. Having arrived at Everton in August 2023, the forward has failed to hit the back of the net in his 24 overall appearances. Signed for around £10m, the forward is living life on £30k per week, as per Capology, a wage that Everton will want to reduce with a loan.

The Portuguese youngster has managed four goals in five games at academy level for the Toffees, but the product of Sporting CP has been unable to get to grips with life as a Premier League forward.

Eyeing up a simple loan move for the attacker, according to The Rangers Review, Rangers offer him the platform to ply his trade more often, and in return, the Scottish side potentially gets a special talent for the year.

Not putting all their eggs in one basket, Martin's side also have their eyes on Bojan Miovski. Formerly of Aberdeen, where he notably scored 26 goals in 53 appearances during the 2023/24 season, the Macedonian has been unable to replicate this form at Girona, with a move to Rangers offering him a return to Scotland.

With the window set to shut on September 1st, there is still time for the Rangers to add to an already stacked roster of players.
