Newcastle United want to sign Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak this summer, according to Fichajes.
Newcastle's window has been full of plenty of ups and downs, a stressful off-season to say the least. Having added to their side with the likes of Anthony Elanga, Jacob Ramsey, and Malick Thiaw, a positive window has been overshadowed by the drama regarding their starman, Isak.
With Arsenal having signed Viktor Gyokeres and Liverpool adding Hugo Ekitike to their side, the Swedish Newcastle forward observed the football landscape and realised his future lay elsewhere. Needing to think ahead to a life without the forward, Howe's side have set their sights on Sorloth, with a remarkably low fee being earmarked.
Alexander Sorloth Linked to Newcastle United For £30m
Alexander Sorloth celebrating for Atletico Madrid
The Magpies have been linked to a plethora of forwards this summer transfer window. From Yoane Wissa to Jorgen Strand Larsen, the North East side kept their eyes on Premier League forwards, with now Chelsea forward, Joao Pedro, also rumoured to be wanted by the 2024/25 Carabao Cup winners.
However, expanding their horizons, it seems Newcastle's attention is now on Sorloth of Atletico Madrid, with a fee of £30m rumoured to be enough to get this deal over the line. Coming off the back of a season in which he scored 24 goals in all competitions, a move away from the Metropolitano Stadium is now on the cards for the Norwegian.
As per Fichajes.net, Eddie Howe values Sorloth's 'aerial play and ability to dominate the box', traits that are ideal for the physicality of the Premier League. Not wanting to keep unhappy players around, a shockingly low fee could see Newcastle's striker woes solved ahead of a campaign in which they will be playing Champions League football.
A former Premier League player, Sorloth was signed by Crystal Palace in 2017, but made just 20 appearances for the Eagles before spreading his wings and rebuilding his career elsewhere.
Following successful spells at Trabzonspor, Real Sociedad, Villareal and Atletico Madrid, the 29-year-old finally appears to be ready for Premier League football, with his 'powerhouse' play style being just what Howe needs to replace Isak, who is still being linked to a move to Liverpool.
