Antony to Real Betis: Is the transfer saga involving Man United attacker almost over?

Real Betis are reportedly preparing to put a new proposal on the table for Manchester United attacker Antony on Monday, with the La Liga giants still working to sign the Brazilian.

Antony is currently a part of the 'bomb squad' at Man United alongside Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho, with all three set to leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

The Brazilian spent the second half of last season on loan with Real Betis, scoring nine goals and registering five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

A number of clubs are believed to have expressed an interest in signing the 25-year-old this summer, but he is said to be determined to secure a return to Seville.

According to the Daily Mail, Real Betis are planning to put forward a new proposal at the start of next week, and there is a growing confidence from all sides that a deal can be completed.

Real Betis 'preparing new offer' for Man United's Antony

Real Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini recently urged Man United "to make a decision" over Antony's future.

"I've not spoken with Antony. We all know that he was very good here, we want him with us, and Antony wants to return no doubt. But we also need the owner, which is Manchester United, to make a decision," Pellegrini told reporters.

The Brazilian has only scored 12 goals and registered five assists in 96 matches for Man United since making the move to Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2022.

Antony has another two years left to run on his contract, but Man United are said to be against another loan move, with the Red Devils instead looking to sell him for a fee in excess of £30m.

Antony is not in Amorim's plans at Man United

When asked about the members of the 'bomb squad' during his press conference on Friday, Amorim said: "It's not an idea that these guys are going to leave, to play in a different club and then we'll receive another player.

"We don't know what is going to happen, but we're not waiting to take out someone to get another. I think the players you are talking about are not with this group at this moment."

Antony arrived at Man United as a right-sided attacker, but that is no longer a position that exists in the Red Devils side, with Amorim playing two number 10s behind a centre-forward.
