Everton could be about to reignite their interest in Tomas Soucek in the final stages of the transfer window.

The midfielder’s future at West Ham has been uncertain for large parts of the summer, as Graham Potter seemed keen to overhaul the squad at his disposal at the London Stadium.

Everton showed an interest in taking Soucek, with the Merseysiders looking to add proven Premier League experience in the middle of the park.

David Moyes signed the Czech international during his stint in charge of the East Londoners, and now he could be keen to repeat one of his best-ever pieces of transfer business.

Everton to reignite Tomas Soucek interest after Edson Alvarez links

Everton have been linked with a move for Edson Alvarez recently, as Moyes appears keen to raid his former employers.

The Mexican was also first brought to the Premier League by the Scottish boss, and the Toffees were tipped for a shock loan move for him before he agreed to join Fenerbahce recently.

There is a clear desire from Moyes to explore the possibility of reuniting with players who have served him well in the past, and that could be about to play out again with Soucek.

Ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that Everton should be looking to go back in for the 30-year-old, who would provide a stronger option than Alvarez would have.

“I’m surprised that Moyes hasn’t gone back to West Ham for Soucek,” King said.

“He’d have been the one to bring in for me.

“Moyes signed him at West Ham on the advice of his chief scout, and he’ll have been a player who interested him this summer.

“He’s been starting games on the bench at times recently, but I think he could be a good addition to Everton, more so than Alvarez would have been, to be honest.”

Tomas Soucek would be a great signing for the Toffees

Moyes has been pushing for further additions at Everton, and the acquisition of a player like Soucek would certainly be a positive move if they could pull it off.

The midfielder is a reliable and consistent performer, and also somebody who Moyes has already established a strong level of trust with from their previous time together.

Soucek covers ground well, breaks up the play, and is a huge threat to opposition defences from dead ball situations.

His signing from Slavia Prague was one of the highlights from Moyes’ days with the Hammers, and he would understandably be thrilled if he could repeat the feet at Everton.
