Negotiations to sign Arsenal player ‘will intensify in coming hours’ – ‘Strong expectation’ from club to finalise deal

On Friday, O Jogo reported FC Porto want to sign Jakub Kiwior on loan with an obligation to buy and have started talks with Arsenal.

The Dragons’ interest in the centre-back is covered by today’s Portuguese newspapers.

Record talks up the possibility of Porto signing the Arsenal player this summer. They say the 25-year-old can be a ‘significant addition’ and can bolster their defence.

The Gunners secured a 5-0 win over Leeds United at the Emirates yesterday and Kiwior was an unused substitute.

Sunday’s O Jogo reports a new round of talks between Arsenal and the Primeira Liga side is scheduled for the Poland international’s transfer.

This is also echoed by A Bola, and their title says ‘Kiwior to close in the next few hours’. However, this isn’t concretely backed up within the report.

Porto have already signed Jan Bednarek from Southampton earlier this summer and are now working on reuniting with his compatriot.

In order to make the former Spezia man’s arrival possible, a new meeting will take place. The reports states this is when the negotiations, likely between Arsenal and Porto, ‘will intensify in the coming hours’.

Mikel Arteta’s side have set a €27m price and A Bola say Porto have a ‘strong expectation’ to complete this operation either via a loan with an obligation or a permanent transfer.
