Nottingham Forest battle Leeds to sign £32m star with nine assists last season - journalist

Nottingham Forest aren’t done in the transfer window just yet, with serious work being done behind the scenes.

Douglas Luiz signed for Forest on Thursday to make it a very successful week in the market, with the Brazilian becoming the fourth signing of the week.

Forest are addressing two more areas of the squad before the window closes, and it would appear that more forward options might be on the radar before the window closes.

Nuno Espirito Santo has had an argument with Edu in recent weeks and that has threatened his position as head coach, it would seem.

However, regardless of who is in the dugout come the West Ham game next Sunday, it could well be a busy week of transfers again for the Reds.

Leeds United rival Nottingham Forest for Dilane Bakwa

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Forest remain in close contact with Strasbourg over Bakwa and could swoop for the winger this month.

However, Leeds United are also keen now, with the £32 million fee not really viewed as a problem for either of the two Premier League clubs.

Bakwa is a left-footed winger and it seemed when Forest signed Omari Hutchinson that their interest in the French winger could waver somewhat.

However, it’s believed that the two clubs are in conversation with Strasbourg, with just over a week to go in the transfer market for this summer.

Bakwa scored six goals and claimed nine assists in Ligue 1 last season and as a result, that has led to a host of clubs monitoring the player.

Forest could benefit from another winger

With Ramon Sosa already departing and Jota Silva set to leave Forest, it wouldn’t be out of the realms of reality that another winger is sought this summer.

One injury would leave Forest pretty much back to square one and as a result, it’s perhaps worthwhile for the Reds to beat Leeds to Bakwa.

At 22-years-old, the left-footed player looks like a potential future star and £32 million could probably prove to be a sound investment for the winger.

With Callum Hudson-Odoi, Dan Ndoye and Hutchinson as the current wide options, Bakwa would add even more depth to a position that feels very strong at the moment for Forest.
