Following reports of Arsenal hijacking Liverpool’s bid for Salford City striker Will Wright earlier this week, Simon Jones of the Daily Mail reported on Thursday night that the Gunners had agreed a fee of around £200,000 – twice as large as Liverpool’s initial bid.

James McNicholas and Laurie Whitwell confirm for The Athletic on Friday morning that Arsenal have agreed a fee of £200,000 plus add-ons, with the player set to link up with the club’s academy teams.

DaveOCKOP, who had broken the news of Arsenal hijacking the deal from Liverpool in the first place, reports that the fee could reach £400,000 after add-ons.

Fabrizio Romano reports that a deal is agreed and Arsenal have won the race for the youth striker, with documents now being prepared for the player’s transfer.

Romano claims the Gunners have fought off interest from several other clubs, with the Daily Mail report suggesting Manchester City were also in the mix.

Only recently turning 17, Wright has already made four competitive appearances for League Two Salford City. He’s been heavily involved in senior pre-season this summer, scoring four times in three games.

The youngster has primarily been playing youth football up until now, and all reports suggest he’ll initially be linking up with the Arsenal u21s.
