Derby County still have huge transfer ambitions this summer, despite the window coming to a close in just over a week’s time.
The Rams picked up their first point of the season on Friday evening, with Carlton Morris scoring late on to hold Bristol City to a 1-1 draw under the lights at Pride Park.
Dion Sanderson had a strong game for the East Midlands outfit after struggling in his first few weeks following his loan move from Birmingham City, and John Eustace will be hoping that the impending arrivals of Lewis Travis and Max Johnston can be the key to success.
Nevertheless, wingers are also needed and after missing out on Koki Saito to QPR, Derby are turning their attention to Spain and a player with Championship experience already.
Derby County register interest in former Brentford winger Sergi Canos
The Rams have been in the market looking for a winger throughout the summer, although they have been unsuccessful in their hunt so far.

Corey Blackett-Taylor’s injury means that the position has become a greater priority in the last few weeks, and therefore it may not come as a surprise to see Sergi Canos come onto the radar of Derby.
According to Salva Gomis, the former Brentford man has an offer from the Championship side, while LAFC are also tracking his movements.
Currently playing for Valencia, Canos’ next club is likely to be outside of Spain but he has already turned down a move to Türkiye this summer after making 17 La Liga appearances last season.
Sergi Canos made quite the impression at Brentford
The 28-year-old is a player that Derby supporters will recognise. He’s played nine times against the Rams in his career, scoring once and providing one assist in that time. He was also sent off at Pride Park in 2018, as Brentford were beaten 3-0.
Canos spent six years with the Bees between 2017 and 2023, having also spent a season on loan in West London back in 2015/16. The Spaniard played a key role in helping the club achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2021, before scoring their first goal of the campaign against Arsenal.
Injuries plagued the winger in his final years at the GTech Community Stadium, but Thomas Frank was a huge fan of Canos. He said in 2023 (via: brentfordfc.com): “Last season was difficult for Sergi. His start to the season was delayed by injury and he didn’t feel he made enough appearances for us.
“In the second half of the season, he started to find form at Olympiacos but then was hit by injury again. Therefore, this summer, we need to get Sergi fit, back to his best, and making a big contribution for us.
“Like Pontus Jansson and Saman Ghoddos, Sergi is already a Brentford legend and I’m looking forward to having him back in pre-season.”
