Miami Dolphins cuts tracker 2025: Keeping up with the 53-man roster

The NFL’s 2025 deadline for teams to move from the 90-man preseason roster size down to the regular season’s 53-man limit is Tuesday. As of 4 p.m. Eastern, every team will have had to complete its cuts, set its initial 53-man active roster, and prepare to build a 16-man practice squad. Of course, throughout the next week, the initial roster can and will change as players are claimed off waivers, free agents are signed, and injured players are moved between the active roster and the various reserve lists.

We will keep up with all of the cuts being made by the Dolphins right here, collecting any articles about the moves as well as tracking who made the roster and who did not.

Two quick notes: First, the Dolphins have a roster exemption for offensive lineman Bayron Matos as a member of the league’s International Player Pathway program, allowing them to carry 91 players on the roster. Second, though he is not allowed to practice until being activated off the physically unable to perform list, because he is on an active list, offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg still counts against the roster limit.

The Miami Dolphins host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night in the final preseason game for both teams. While this is a last chance for the teams to prepare for the start of the regular season, it is also the last chance for players to force the coaches into finding roster space for them. Final cuts are looming, and players need to make an impression if they want to stick with the team into the regular season.

Teams will have to drop from the preseason 90-man roster limit to the regular season’s 53-man limit by 4 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday. While most of the roster is probably already set in the minds of the coaches and front office, a breakout performance on Saturday could be enough to shake up that thinking.

The Miami Dolphins tallied their first win of the 2025 preseason on Saturday, beating the Detroit Lions 24-17. The victory moves them to 1-0-1 for the preseason, following their 24-24 tie against the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Miami returns to South Florida this weekend, opening Hard Rock Stadium for the first time as the Jacksonville Jaguars visit on Saturday.

While the result of the game itself does not matter in the long run, the play of the players on the field does. Bubble watch players are hoping Saturday night’s performance against the Lions was enough to push them into one of the team’s 53 regular-season roster spots. With just one game remaining, and just over a week until the final roster cuts are due, players are getting into crunch time if they hope to remain with the team this year.

The Miami Dolphins are two weeks into their 2025 training camp, with their first preseason game just over a week away. With the calendar now moving to August, today is a perfect day to take a look at the team’s roster and update the projected depth chart.

A lot has changed since the first 53-man roster projection. The Dolphins traded away cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith, while acquiring safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and tight end Darren Waller. They have had injuries, especially to the cornerback group where Artie Burns sustained a torn ACL last week and Kader Kohou tore his ACL this week. An already depleted secondary is only getting even thinner as training camp progresses.

The Miami Dolphins wrapped up their 2025 offseason training program on Thursday with the final day of their mandatory minicamp. The players now head into the break with holiday plans and individual workouts on their minds. Among the coaches and front office personnel, the break is a time to get some rest, while also starting to think about how they will assemble the final 53-man roster for the regular season.

Training camp opens at the end of July and will bring with it plenty of changes. Veteran players will be signed, injuries will occur, and someone will emerge to force their way onto the roster. Where do we think the roster stands as of the end of minicamp? We project the 53-man roster below, giving you an early swing at who will be on the team when the regular season begins in September.
