Arsenal 'agree record-breaking deal to sign Irish teenager'

Arsenal have agreed a record-breaking deal to sign highly-touted Irish teenager Victor Ozhianvuna from Shamrock Rovers.

The 16-year-old, who has already made his senior debut in the Irish top flight, has agreed terms that will see him join the Gunners when he turns 18 in January of 2027.

Ozhianvuna has already completed his medical ahead of the move.

Mikel Arteta's side will pay a record fee for a League of Ireland player to secure Ozhianvuna's services, according to a report from The Athletic.

The move comes just months after Tottenham broke the record by paying £1.6million to sign Mason Melia from sign St Patrick's Athletic.

Born in the Dublin suburb of Tallaght to Russian and Nigerian parents, the teenager has represented the Republic of Ireland at internationally at both U15 and U17 levels.

The midfielder will join up with Mikel Arteta's side when he turns 18 in January 2027

A right footed midfielder, Ozhianvuna has demonstrated his versatility in a number of different positions but is most commonly deployed on the left side of the pitch.

Arsenal's latest investment in youth comes just days after Hale End academy standout Max Dowman made his first Premier League appearance for the club.

With Arsenal 4-0 up against newly-promoted Leeds, 15-year-old Dowman was introduced for Noni Madueke just after the hour mark.

In doing so, Dowman became the second-youngest player in the history of the Premier League.

The current holder of that honour is Dowman's Gunners team-mate Ethan Nwaneri, who was just 15 years and 181 days old when he came off the bench against Brentford in 2022.
