Jack Grealish stole the headlines as Everton secured a massive 2-0 victory over Brighton in the Hill Dickinson stadium curtain-raiser.
When Grealish joined on loan from Manchester City, Everton fans expected big things from the man who once cost Pep Guardiola £100 million.
After being introduced from the bench against Leeds United, David Moyes handed the 29-year-old his first start at home to Brighton, and he didn’t disappoint.
Grealish grabbed two assists, one for Iliman Ndiaye and the other for James Garner, as the Englishman terrorised Mats Wieffer all afternoon.
The Man City loanee was unsurprisingly greeted with a standing ovation after being substituted, and even Jamie Carragher waxed lyrical over his display.

Every time he received the ball on the left flank, he looked like he was going to make something happen, providing a constant threat for the hosts.
Grealish was easily the best player on the pitch, producing a performance akin to his days at Aston Villa, with Carragher praising him highly at full time.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Liverpool defender said: “A really promising debut performance in an Everton shirt. Man of the match, two assists. He probably should have three assists if Dwight McNeil does what he should do.
“Everton have brought in a lot of players over the summer and there are more to come, but there’s absolutely no doubt which one has excited the Evertonians more than any other. It’s that man.”
